MMPI-2

How it works

Your answers are scored with fixed rules in the browser. No AI reads them, and they leave the page only if you choose email saving or delivery.

Scoring answers

The assessment uses the 567 items in Diffrint's licensed workbook. Each scale awards points for specific true or false answers, then totals them into a raw score.

K is calculated first. The five K-corrected scales use Hs + 0.5K, Pd + 0.4K, Pt + 1.0K, Sc + 1.0K, and Ma + 0.2K before conversion to T scores.

Comparison tables and T scores

The results page converts raw scores with the male or female MMPI-2 table you select. Switching tables recalculates the profile without changing your answers. T scores use a reference mean of 50 and a standard deviation of 10.

Diffrint's licensed materials do not include the separately published non-gendered tables, so they are not offered here.

Validity comes first

The report checks unanswered items, response consistency, uncommon answers, and overly favorable or defensive presentation before interpreting the clinical scales. More than 30 unanswered items, severe inconsistency, or certain extreme validity scores stop the interpretation. Borderline results receive a visible caution.

Fp, S, and F minus K remain visible as supporting information. They do not receive made-up cutoffs or decide the profile by themselves.

The written interpretation

Clinical scores at T 65 or above receive the most weight. When the two highest scales form a recognized two-point code, the report uses a fixed interpretation for that pattern. Otherwise it describes the strongest elevated scales individually. Scale 5 is shown but is not used to create a two-point code.

The paragraph can also include up to three distinct content themes and three distinct supporting-scale observations. Validity cautions stay attached to the interpretation. The same scores always produce the same text.

What the report includes

The results also show the Koss-Butcher and Lachar-Wrobel critical-item groupings as raw item-review counts. They have no cutoff and do not change the interpretation paragraph. The labels can sound more certain than the answers allow, so a match is never treated as a diagnosis, a current crisis, or proof that the old label fits.

Limits

This is not an official Pearson score report or a diagnosis. Reading comprehension, testing conditions, culture, current circumstances, and the reason for taking the assessment all affect what the scores mean. A fixed script cannot interview someone or resolve contradictions the way a qualified professional can.

Sources

Items come from Diffrint's licensed workbook. Thresholds and two-point-code guidance come from Diffrint's licensed MMPI-2 interpretation guide. Keys and conversion tables were checked against the public nucular/mmpi-2 implementation and audited for indexing, K correction, table length, order, and transcription errors.
